There is something that all fans know about The Batch.

1. He takes way too long to answer a simple question

2. He wears entirely too much denim (Old Navy, anyone?)

3. The man loves his liquor, spirits, beer and food.

Here are some of Benedict’s favorite food and drinks and instructions on how to make them yourself to impress your friends and show them exactly how obsessed you aren’t.

(WARNING: Drinks are alcoholic. British people  18+ and Americans 21+)

1. Whiskey Sours

Any good fan, lush, or just whiskey aficionado knows the man likes his whiskey. He has mentioned in numerous interviews

and drinks it often when being interviewed (normally in intimate sessions, not large public events). You can see proof of this here in the BAFTA New York interview.

(Disclaimer–As a huge fan of Whiskey, and all things sour, I must give you an inebriated warning that WHISKEY is not for the first time drinker (although it was my first drink when I was of age), it’s strong and it’s bitter. )

This drink isn’t as intimidating as it sounds or looks. As someone who has personally bought the ingredients myself to make this drink whenever I’m feeling fancy or having a hot date with Netflix, I can tell you that I have no bar tending experience and this drink is EASY.

To try your hand at this lovely beverage here is a version of the written recipe and a short video . *drink responsibly, but sexily*

2. Caipirinha

Yes, I don’t know how to pronounce it either. This particular drink was found in’Fiery Cherry’ form at one of Benedict’s favorite restaurants Yalla Yalla  as mentioned in his interview with High Life magazine.

This drink comes in a variety of flavors, but it’s original origins seem to have the base of the alcoholic beverage of Rum (boy, does that man drink heavy!). This is also another drink one shouldn’t try on their first time out on the bend, but perfect for cocktail parties by the pool for a refreshing cool down.  To try Yalla Yalla’s cherry version click here for the recipe. To watch a short video (and the correct pronunciation) feast your eyes here.

3. Tapas

This particular treat was mentioned in the same High Life Magazine article as one of Benedict’s favorite things. The origins of the name and range of dishes is of Spanish origins. Tapas isn’t one particular item, but instead an assortment of various “snacks” or “dishes” that one serves as an appetizer at a party. Here is an assortment of recipes  (and short video)ranging from grilled cheese asparagus to salsa and chicken. The perfect assortment to make your friends think you are classy (and cultured) as fuck.

(Disclaimer– Americans! The list of recipes uses UK food measurements, but also offers an American conversion.)

4. Banoffe Pie

To the average American (except Paula Deen and Guy Fieri) this pie sounds like a mystical and completely silly and fictional food you can find in a Curious George novel. As an American when Benedict mentioned in his short interview for Harper’s Baazar I had to stop what I was doing immediately and google this. Luckily ol’ Beno wasn’t the crazy one. For those unfamiliar with Banoffe Pie, it’s a pie (obviously), that is made primarily with Bananas and cream Toffee.  Simple enough? I think so. But why hasn’t this been popular in America since it’s inception? I mean we have deep fried twinkies for crying out loud! Anyway, I digress. Back to the pie at hand.  Banoffe Pie seems delicious and sinful for those afflicted with the sweet tooth disease.  Impress the hell out of your friends (Americans!) by making this delicious dish (and bonus points to you as they’ll think you’ve created an unsung masterpiece). This colossal dessert does take a lot of love, trust, faith and pixie dust. So word to the wise is buy all the right ingredients and take a chunk of your day to make this beauty.  Here is Paula Deen’s American/British rendition on the pie, and she even made a little video to go with it.  And here is another video by our friends at The Guardian on how to make Benedict’s favorite pie.
